Hal Jernigan

Harold Neil “Hal” Jernigan Jr., 88, a resident of Union City, died Feb. 26, 2025, at AHC Health Care.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at East View Cemetery. Rev. Jamie Adams will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Bill Thompson, Burnie Powers, Robert Caldwell, David Townes, Mike Haynes and Jim Harris.
Paul Buckner and Ed McCord will be honorary pallbearers.
Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery around 1:45 p.m.
Mr. Jernigan was born on Feb. 23, 1937, in Lexington, Ky., to the late Harold and Lola (Stanley) Jernigan Sr. He was a longtime resident of Union City and a 1955 UCHS graduate. He attended Memphis State and Ole Miss. He owned and operated the former Jernigan Lime and Gravel Company, The Knife Works and The Colony Shop.
The family requests memorials be sent to Stanley’s Chapel Cemetery Fund or Obion County Chimes for Charity.
He is survived by a daughter, Kristi Townes and husband, David; two grandchildren, Davie and Jake Townes; great-granddaughter, Leighton Reese Townes; and caregiver, Judy J. Taylor, all of Union City; and a nephew, Turner Neil Jernigan of Nashville.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Ray Jernigan.
