Allan Russell
Robert Allan Russell, 60, of Lakeland, formerly of Union City, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025.
Allan was born Jan. 9, 1965, at Bentwaters Air Force Base in Suffolk, England, to Jean (Harpole) Russell and the late James Robert Russell. Although he was born intellectually disabled, Allan had a charming personality and loved meeting people. He provided lifelong companionship to his mother, who devoted her life to her special son. Allan delighted in listening to classic rock (especially his favorite band, Foreigner) and country music, and enjoyed watching television, with his favorite programming being old sitcoms, game shows, the Mike Huckabee show and Action News 5. He loved talking about the weather forecast and could always tell you whether the daily stock report was good (“all green!”) or bad (“all red, yuck!”)
Allan is survived by his mother, Jean; his sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Christopher Perry, with whom he lived in Lakeland; and his favorite person, his nephew Zachary Perry. We will all miss Allan’s happy and loving presence.
A private memorial service will be held on Jan. 19, 2025, in Lakeland. Inurnment will be at Eastview Cemetery in Union City. Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
