George Pate

George Hayse “Buck” Pate, age 86, of Troy passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home.
Memorial visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at White-Ranson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Bro. Melvin Poe officiating.
Mr. Pate was born in Union City on Nov. 16, 1938, to the late Clifton Hayse Pate and the late Rata Mills Conn Billingsley. He married Ruth Adelle Traywick Pate on Oct. 6, 1962. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2006. He was Navy Veteran. After his service, he worked for Williams Sausage Company and then Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company until his retirement. Mr. Pate was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved to golf and hunt, and loved watching and cheering for the Tennessee Vols Football Team.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Tracy Pate of Troy; his daughter, Joanie Matthews of Horn Lake, Miss.; his grandchildren, Braylin Pate of Troy and Jack Pate of Union City; two brothers, Mickey Billingsley of Paris, Tenn., and Claude (Carmen) Billingsley of Union City; two sisters, Amber Webb of Paris and Jean Elvington of Waverly; and five step-grandchildren, Brooklyn Vowell of Hickman, Ky., Brianna Johnson of Martin and Aubree, Jack and Sam Guess of Union City.
