Carolyn Newsom
Carolyn Sue (Durham) Newsom, 73, of Obion went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, at her home.
Graveside services were conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Stanley’s Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation was held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from noon until 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
Family members served as pallbearers.
Carolyn was born July 12, 1951, in Lake County, daughter of the late James Andrew and Selma Laveda (Sanford) Durham. She married Robert Gilbert Newsom April 28, 1969. Carolyn was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gilbert Newsom of Obion; her daughter, Diana Choate and husband, David, of Obion; two grandchildren, Ashley Wetzel and husband, Cody, of Hornbeak and Kyle Choate of Obion; one great-grandson, Michael Wetzel of Hornbeak; two sisters, Jewel Durham Newsom of the Midway community and Betty Ann Durham Maynard of South Fulton; and one brother, Jimmy Harris Durham of Hornbeak.
She was also preceded in death by one infant brother.
