Bettye Jo King

Bettye Jo Crouson King, 94, of Kenton died on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, at The Arbors at Etheridge House in Union City.
Born Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1930, in Trimble, she was the daughter of the late James “Jim” Lee Crouson and the late Josie Nevil Crouson. She was the youngest of seven children. She was a member of First Baptist Church Kenton.
Funeral services for Mrs. King will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at First Baptist Church Kenton. Officiating the service will be Brandon Norton and nephew Eddie West. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Kenton. Visitation for Mrs. King will be held 10-11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at First Baptist Church Kenton.
She is survived by her daughters, Belinda Emerson (the late Rodney Emerson) of Collierville and Marsha Houston (Gary) of Union City; four grandchildren, Lolly Eldridge (Stephen), Jim Coy Houston (Jenny), Josie Hill (Gresham) and Gerald Emerson (Maggie); nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews she loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lamar King; four sisters and two brothers, Harry Crouson, Edith Hammonds, Opal Bell, Tom Crouson, Helen Walton and Dorothy West; and son-in-law, Rodney Emerson.
Honoring Mrs. King as pallbearers will be Eddie West, Reed Walton, Charles Crouson, Lee Bell, David Bell, Dixie Bell, Gresham Hill and Stephen Eldridge.
