Jimmy Ferguson

James Elvyn “Jimmy” Ferguson, 81, of Gleason passed away 7:42 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, at AHC Van Ayer in Martin.
Graveside services were conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fremont Cemetery near Union City. Brother Jeff Moody officiated.
Pallbearers were Raymond Walker, Taylor Brundige, Will Davis, Josh Damesworth, Steve Sedberry and Bob Reavis.
There was no visitation and friends were asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Jimmy was born Sept. 26, 1943, in Union City, son of the late Elvyn Edward “Skinny” Ferguson and the late Cordie Mai (Dickey) Buza. He received a bachelor of science degree in communications from Memphis State University.
Jimmy was employed as a electrical technician for Sundt Construction. He enjoyed dancing.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Walker and husband, Raymond, of Gleason; his son, Jody Alan Ferguson of Dresden; his longtime companion, Linda Latham of Medina; two brothers, Britt Ferguson of Union City and Stony Ferguson of Eau Claire, Mich.; five grandchildren, Marissa Celeste Damesworth and husband, Josh, of Paris, Taylor James Brundige of Gleason, Olivia Grace Walker of Elizabethtown, Ky., Hunter Chase Walker of Chicago, Ill., and Sarah Iris Walker of Martin; and four great-grandchildren, Josie Cade Muzzall, Jema Cate Muzzall and William Jackson Muzzall, all of Gleason, and Natalie Iris Copeland of Martin.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Lou Smith and Rita Ann Buza.
