John Coleman Jr.
John “Sonny” Elliot Coleman Jr., age 76, of Martin passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at West Tennessee Volunteer Hospital in Martin.
Funeral service were 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Bro. Jeff Kenee officiating. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Prince, Phillip Reed, Elliott Coleman, John Mack Long, Glen Reed and Kyle Coleman.
Mr. Coleman was born in Memphis on Oct. 5, 1948, to the late John Elliott Coleman Sr. and the late Carlene Leath Coleman. He married Mrs. Helen Hoover Coleman on Sept. 2, 1967. She survives. He was a former Tool Maker until he retired. Mr. Coleman was a member of Exchange Street Church of Christ and a Mason of the Fraternal Lodge of 551.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his three sons, Scott (Angela) Elliott Coleman of Tullahoma, Sandy (Missy) Austin Coleman of Martin and Keith (Melissa) Allen Coleman of Cunningham; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Prince and Betty Baker; and one brother, George Elliott Coleman.
