Martha Taylor

Martha Dee Jernigan Taylor, age 88, of Paris passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. 
Her funeral service was 11:30 am on Saturday, August 10, at McEvoy Funeral Home, with Brian Wimberley and the Rev. Dr. Scott Fowler officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family was at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 10, at McEvoy Funeral Home before the service at 11:30.
Martha Dee Jernigan Taylor was born October 19, 1935, in Jackson, MS, to the late Thomas W. and Virginia Sullivan Jernigan. On August 12, 1956, she married Dr. Jim G. Taylor, who preceded her in death on December 14, 2013.
Martha graduated from Union City High School, and she received her bachelor’s degree from Memphis State University and her master’s degree from Murray State University. She attended GraceLife Church of Paris and was a teacher in Union City and the Henry County School System for many years.
Martha is survived by three daughters: Janet Plumley (Tony Garcia) of Dickson, TN, Linda (Rev. Dr. Scott) Fowler of Montevallo, AL, and Brenda (Dr. Hollis) Halford of Millington, TN; son, Dr. James Curtis Taylor (June Feger) of Puryear, TN; fifteen grandchildren: Trent & Blake Plumley; Mary (Jacob) Davis, Dr. Anna (Jason) Burton, John Halford, Rachel (Dr. Matt) Bolton, & Clara (David) Weaver; Danielle (Zach) Tucker, Hannah (Sam) Hunt, Joshua Fowler, Rebekah (Jonathan) Ellis, Sarah (Mason) Nolan, Jonathan (Marina) Fowler, Elizabeth Fowler, & Daniel Jim Fowler; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Ann Jonsson of Belmont, CA; brother, Thomas W. Jernigan of Union City, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Martha was also preceded in death by a twin sister, Margaret Lee Davis.
Pallbearers for Ms. Taylor were Trent Plumley, Blake Plumley, John Halford, Daniel Fowler, Zach Tucker and Tony Garcia. Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Fowler and Jonathan Fowler.
