Mr. George Gary Francis, 87, a resident of Union City, went to his heavenly home July 26, 2024, at his residence, holding the hand of his beloved wife, Helen, and surrounded by his loving family.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday at the White-Ranson Funeral Home.
Services were at 1 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial followed in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Greg Murphy, J.P. Prather, Ethan Rogers, Jacob Prather, Kyle Meek and Tommy Rogers.
Francis was born on Sept. 10, 1936, in Greenwood, S.C., to the late Robert A. and Jeannette S. (Rice) Francis Sr. He worked as a Pharmacist for the hospital in Union City for 42 years, always with a smile on his face. He was known to all as a kind and gentle man. On Aug. 24, 1957, he married Helen Strange. He enjoyed gardening, woodwork, stained glass and spending time with family.
He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Union City for over 65 years.

Francis is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Helen Francis of Union City; two daughters, Teri Francis Prather and husband, James, of Union City and Dawn Francis Murphy and husband, Greg, of Fredericksburg, Va.; a son, Robin Francis of Union City; eight grandchildren, Shannon Rogers, Kyle L. Meek, Jessica LaPorte, Mary Beth Vise, Jacob Prather, Aja Francis, Megan Papaleo and Peyton Vuolo; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Roger, Weston Vise, Blaire Vuolo and Camila Papaleo; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert A. “Bob” Francis Jr.; and sister, Bernadine Rink.
