BOW TO PRAY

BOW TO PRAY — Austin Norton, pastor at Hornbeak Baptist Church, took to his knees to pray during a community service Tuesday at noon outside the Obion County Courthouse. He was the first of several preachers who were offered the opportunity to pray for the county, its people and the government. The prayer service was held as an effort to promote Tennessee House Joint Resolution 803, which seeks God’s hand of mercy healing on Tennessee. It calls July to be recognized as “a time of prayer and fasting in Tennessee.” It resolves “that we recognize that God, as Creator and King of all Glory, has both the authority to judge and to bless nations and states.” The full resolution may be viewed at www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/113/Bill/HJR0803.pdf.
