ELITE FISHERMAN — John Garrett (second from left) of Union City took the first-place trophy and a $103,000 top prize during the Lowrance Bassmaster Elite at Harris Chain of Lakes in Leesburg, Fla., on Monday. He was joined by his grandfather, Johnnie Garrett; wife, Morgan; and daughter, Blaire, when accepting the trophy. John Garrett is a 2014 graduate of Obion County Central High School and helped start the anglers team there in 2013. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bethel University in McKenzie in 2019, where he was a member of the fishing team.
