CELEBRATING THE DAY
CELEBRATING THE DAY — Jayceon Gossett (right) took a break from coloring Saturday at the Obion County Public Library to watch Bryar Starks move a colorful pompom as he played a trivia game by answering questions about “The Little Engine that Could” books. March 2 each year is Read Across America Day and is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. The local library joined the fun by hosting a Read Across the Library event. Children were able to visit booths, make crafts and play games. After completing the activities, participants were treated to a fruit snack and a coupon for a free meal at Zaxby’s. Read Across America Day was established in 1998 by the National Education Association and occurs on the birthday of beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss. Activities stretch throughout the week as local schools also have guest readers and other fun. Jayceon is the 6-year-old son of Jerry and Amber Gossett of Union City. Bryar is the 6-year-old son of Chase and Ginny Starks of Union City.
