Phillip Spydell Davidson

Phillip Spydell Davidson, age 86, of Martin, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at West Tennessee Volunteer Hospital in Martin Visitation will be Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Martin Church of Christ. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Danny Cash officiating and Tommy Davidson also speaking. Burial followed at East Side Cemetery with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements. He was born March 1, 1937 to Percy Alrice Davidson and Mamie Pearl Harbison Davidson, in Dickson. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served from Jan. 29, 1954 – Dec. 1956 on the USS Seminole as a machine repairman. He was the owner of Martin Machine Works of Martin and Martin Tool & Die in South Fulton, doing government contract manufacturing until his retirement. He was a long-time member of the Martin Rotary Club and a member of the Martin Church of Christ. He was a long time supporter and advocate for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research. Mr. Davidson is survived by his wife, Becky Davidson of Martin; two sons, Greg Davidson and Mike Davidson, both of Martin; three grandchildren, Monica (Brad) White, Dusty (Laura) Davidson and Holly Davidson, all of Martin; brother, Tommy (Janice) Davidson of Burns; sisters, Anah (Luther) Weathers of Nashville and Alra (Tom) Maddox of Skiatook, Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren, Dru White, Katie Beth White, Luke White, Clara Jane White, Kade White, Everett Davidson, Brooke Davidson, Addilyn Davidson and Cooper Davidson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Alrice Davidson and Mamie Pearl Harbison Davidson; brother, Hooper Davidson; and sister, Sherry McMilleon.
