Daniel Sharp

Daniel Lee Sharp, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 28, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and soon-to-be great-grandfather. We are saddened by his passing, but find peace in knowing that he is now in the presence of our Savior.
Daniel was a member of Salem Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, a Veteran, a charter member of the former Rutherford and Kenton Jaycees and served previously as Alderman for the City of Kenton. With numerous hours in his woodworking shop, he mastered various projects, including toy automobiles, trains and grandfather clocks just to name a few. Daniel was a serviceman at C.W. Sanderson’s, previously known as Kenton Hardware, for 43 years. Often seen in that jolly red suit at Christmas time, Daniel enjoyed all the little children at local churches and in the City of Kenton parade. He also spent much time with his beloved fur baby Winston.
Daniel will be deeply missed by his family. Faye Sharp, his wife of 63 years, survives, as well as two daughters, Leanne (Danny) Marvin and Maria (David) Lackey. He had five grandchildren, including Daniel Hannaman (Mark), Tiffany Marvin (Zack), Alden Marvin (Sidney), Demi Jai Campbell (Boyd) and Anna Louise Lackey (Douglas). He also had four great-grandchildren. His brother, Joe (Peggy) Sharp, also survives. He was proud of his family, including all his in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Boucher Sharp; his infant sister, Marilyn Anita Sharp; brother, Neal Sharp; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jimmie and Louise Dotson Gilliland.
Visitation for Mr. Sharp was to be held today (Jan. 10) at 11 a.m. at Kenton First United Methodist Church, with a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. A graveside service was to follow. Brother James Lumpkin and Brother Tony Jones were to officiate.
Karnes and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.karnesandsonfuneralhome.com.
