BUCKET BRIGADE
BUCKET BRIGADE — At the beginning of the recently-completed 2022-23 school year, Obion County school resource officer supervisor Sgt. Jonathan Reyna (center) took his idea of supplying the Obion County School System with emergency buckets to systemwide Coordinated School Health director Chastity Homra. After a few logistical conversations to decide what the buckets should include, Ms. Homra began to apply for a few grants and Reyna began to ask for the donation of supplies. Lowe’s donated 300 buckets and sealable lids. A Walmart Community Grant was received to help buy contents of the buckets and Ms. Homra was able to allocate Coordinated School Health funds to purchase some contents. Walmart also donated $300 in gift cards. All 300 emergency buckets were packed last week at Obion County Central High School by every county SRO. Among those working were (from left) SROs Justin Hobbs, Reyna and Taylor Rodgers. Every classroom at every school in the Obion County district will have an emergency bucket, which includes food tablets, water, rags, trash bags, tourniquets, stop-the-bleed powder, feminine products, glucose tablets, fidget spinners, flashlights, batteries, whistles, fire blankets, toilet tissue, first aid kits, hand sanitizer and hand fans.
