John Greer

John Andrew “Jack” Greer, age 83, of Kenton passed away from this life on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at his home.
Funeral services for Mr. Greer were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 4 p.m. in the Kenton chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home, with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating. Interment followed in New Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jack was born April 9, 1939, in Nashville, the son of the late Andrew Johnson and Edna Helena (Step) Greer. He retired as a city mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, and was a member of New Concord Baptist Church. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1974, honorably discharging as a Captain. Military honors were observed.
Jack is survived by loving wife, Kathy (Ashley) Greer; daughter, Sheryl Houston; daughter by heart, Paige Boaz; two sisters, Mary Mee and Helen Harper; three grandchildren, John Fox, Jennifer Reeves and Jessica Hensley; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Sandra Fox; and his parents.
Pallbearers serving were Jay Harper, Keith Ashley, Don Green, Ricky Butler and Tim Laster. Honorary pallbearer was Leo Waynescott.
The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home.
