ON THE MEND — May Simpson of Union City is on the mend and back to doing normal day-to-day chores after a head injury almost cost her her life. She fell off an inversion table in October 2022 and by Thanksgiving was losing muscle control before becoming paralyzed on the left side of her body. When she was not able to get an appointment with a Vanderbilt doctor in mid-December, she decided to travel to Nashville anyway. That is where doctors did a CAT scan before drilling holes in her skull to remove blood from her brain. She said doctors were surprised she was coherent, not in a coma and still alive.
