Charles Edward “Shorty” “Charlie” Stansberry, age 88, dedicated Pa of Mason Hall, passed away from this life on Jan. 15, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Memorial services for Mr. Stansberry were conducted on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Kenton Church of God.
Karnes & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Charles Edward Stansberry was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Rutherford, son of the late George Henry and Lois (Sisco) Stansberry. Mr. Stansberry served in our United States Army and Navy.
“Shorty” was retired from the Obion County Sheriff’s Department as their oldest and longest running employee at the age of 84 in 2019. Mr. Stansberry was a 50-year member of the Masonic Pearl Lodge No. 200 and active member of the New Concord Baptist Church in Kenton.
“Shorty” loved with his whole heart and never met a stranger. He was passionate about gardening and shared produce with anyone that would take it. Most any Saturday, you could always find him at a sale barn looking for whatever “goats or chicken” that would fit in his vehicle!
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Parker) Stansberry; two daughters, Rhonda Stansberry and Gretta Pollock (Robert); one grandson, Matt Pollock (Tiffany); and three great-granddaughters, Ashanti, Mireya and Waylie Pollock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Adam Pollock.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriner’s, St. Jude, or Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope.
