James (Jim) Robert Kendall

James (Jim) Robert Kendall, 87, of Troy died peacefully in his home on June 22, 2022. He was born in the same home on April 23, 1935.
He was a UTM alumni, graduating in 1956, with a degree in agriculture. Afterwards, he attended Navy OCS and did a tour of duty in Barbados, BWI, where he met and married his wife, Marjorie (Sleath) Kendall, on June 28, 1958. They were happily married only a week shy of 64 years. She survives. After his discharge from the Navy, he spent 12 years with Swift and Company as a sales manager, and upon returning to Obion County in 1972, spent the next 35 years as a sales representative for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company.
He was an avid golfer, a life-long Cardinals fan and loved his long-time “round table” friends. He loved living on the family farm where he grew up. He loved his large family, supporting them diligently and generously all his life. He was a believer in Jesus Christ, and served the church faithfully at New Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church, both as a member and elder for many years, and as a Gideon in the organization’s local chapter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Elmer Kendall and Zora Belle (Culp) Kendall; and his sister, Helen Elizabeth (Kendall) Pitfield. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert Andrew Kendall and wife, Robin (Brewer) Kendall, of St. Thomas, VI, Kerrie Lynn (Kendall) Bargery and husband, Barry Bargery, of Munford, Jon Steven Kendall and wife, Camille (Stricklin) Kendall, of Troy, and James Barry Kendall and wife, Julie (Clanton) Kendall, of Obion; as well as 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
