Nellie Cooper

Nellie Sue Hawkins Cooper, beloved mother and grandmother, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday February 20, 2022 at the age of 90. Nellie Sue Hawkins was born on November 26, 1931, to parents Verna and R.J. Hawkins in Sidonia, TN. She graduated from Sidonia, TN. She graduated from Sidonia School and was married to Billy Lee Cooper on September 2, 1950 at the Sidonia Baptist Church. They built a life together and raised five sons on a farm in Sidonia, TN. Sue had a true servant leader heart and served her church and community in many various roles all her life. Her wisdom, warm hugs, and sweet smile will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy, a baby sister, Doris, and her two brothers, James William and Douglas Duane Hawkins. In addition to her five children Terry (Donna) of Greenfield, TN, Mike (Charlotte) of Sharon, TN, Ricky (Jane Lynn) of North Carolina, Mark (Cindy) of Florida, and Randy (Kim) of Sharon, TN, she is survived by ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren as well as her two loving sisters, Ann Hawkins Kelly and Linda Hawkins Crider both of Martin. Funeral service will be at 2 P.M. on Friday February 25, 2022 at the Sidonia Baptist Church with visitation starting at 11:30 A.M. and going until time of her service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sue’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
