MARKING A MILESTONE — Mayci Hogg smiles as her mother, Kristi (Roberson) Davis, talks to her one recent afternoon at their rural Hornbeak home. Mayci, who was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease at the age of 21⁄2, celebrated her 21st birthday on Oct. 24. When she was diagnosed, the life expectancy was age 3. Mayci is also the daughter of Richard Hogg of Jackson.
