Duane Patterson

Duane “Pat” Patterson, age 87, of Martin, died Thursday, May 20, 2021, at his residence. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Martin with Dr. Mike Sams officiating. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements. He retired from Wade’s Furniture Company in Martin where he became friends with many. He was a Godly man that loved helping others and had a passion for animals. He loved singing, loved fishing and being with his family and friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church and he and his wife volunteered countless hours at We Care in Martin. He was a U. S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Capps Patterson of Martin; his son, Jeff (Lynda) Patterson of Cookeville; two granddaughters, Sandy (Guy) Freeman of Christiana and Stephanie (Kyler) Cline of Murfreesboro; three great-grandchildren, Brice Thomas, Addison Baines and Kendall Cline; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Patterson of Christiana. Patterson was preceded in death by his parents, Harbard Franklin Patterson and Ozelle Moore Patterson; and one brother, Willie Franklin Patterson. Online tributes may be left at murphyfuneralhome.net.
