Carolyn Doyle

Mrs. Carolyn Coats Doyle, 87, a resident of Union City, died peacefully March 6, 2021, at her home. She was born Aug. 20,1933, in Martin, daughter of Hilliard and Eunice Coats. She married J.C. Doyle on Dec. 14, 1957. He preceded her in death in 1994.
She was a graduate of Martin High School in 1951, and was in one of the first graduating classes from the University of Tennessee at Martin, after it was established as a four-year university in 1955, with a home economics degree.
After college, Mrs. Doyle taught home economics in Maury County Schools and was an educational assistant in the Union City School System.
Her most significant occupation was homemaker, where she created and maintained a beautiful home for her family. She loved to cook and garden.
She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Union City, where she was actively involved in the Margaret Carter Sunday School class and the United Methodist Women’s group.
Mrs. Doyle is survived by her three children, Tim (Robyn) Doyle of Union City, Rebecca Garrigan of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Amy (John) Cary of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Bart (Mandy) Doyle of Destin, Fla., Emily (Marc) Wuerdeman of Savannah Ga., Ian (Ashley) Garrigan of Clarksville, Jay Paul Garrigan of Tacoma, Wash., Hunter (Chamberlain) Cary of Little Rock, Ark., and Jackson Cary and Carson Cary, both of Columbia; and four great-grandchildren, Cecilia Doyle, Vivie and Poppy Wuerdeman and Bodhi Garrigan.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Ted Coats of Martin and spouse, William Crouch of Martin.
Please join the family to celebrate her life, Saturday, March 13, 2021, at First United Methodist Church in Union City. Bob Nichols and the Rev. Dr. Douglas N. Norfleet will officiate. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon, with the funeral service to follow. Interment will be at Eastview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Bart Doyle, Ian Garrigan, Jay Paul Garrigan, Hunter Cary, Jackson Cary and Carson Cary.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family has asked for memorials to made to First United Methodist Church in Union City, the American Red Cross and Columbia Academy boys basketball or football programs in Columbia.
