Charles Crowell
Charles Edward Crowell, 86, of Rives passed away 5:01 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Melvin Poe officiated. Burial followed in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Thomas Paul Mathis, Brice Cook, Justin Forrester, Jacob Crowell, Christopher Brady and Chad Cook.
Honorary pallbearer was David Wayne Ursery.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Charles was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Obion County, son of the late David Henry and Linnie Mae (Moore) Crowell. He married Margaret Louise (Baker) Crow-ell Sept. 22, 1959. She survives.
He was a retired tool and dye machinist and was of the Baptist faith. Charles and Margaret had been the foster parents to 97 children through the foster program.
He is also survived by eight daughters, Karen Webster, Sharon “Sissy” Call and Destinie Pruitt (Jeremy), all of Union City, Sandra Mathis (Tommy) of Woodland Mills, Faye Crowell, Janet Hailey (Brent) and Wendy Crowell, all of Rives, and Mendy Crowell of Mayfield, Ky.; one son, David Crowell of the Polk Station community; 15 grandchildren, LaShonda Cook (Chad), Tara Webster and Aubrey Jackson, all of Martin, Christopher Brady (Bettye), Clarissa Tejeda (Victor) and Eddie Brady, all of Union City, Harley Forrester (Justin), Thomas Paul Mathis and Sara Mathis, all of Woodland Mills, Allie Crowell Gill (Jaskarn) of Illinois, Jacob Crowell of the Polk Station community, Tanner Hailey, Ellie Hailey and Nathan Hailey, all of Rives, and Charlie Crowell of Mayfield, Ky.; 12 great-grandchildren, Brice Cook and Jayce Cook, both of Martin, Isabella Brady, Ian Brady, Bryson Gray, Emmelie Brady, Parker Brady, Brady Tejeda, Giovanni Tejeda and Ariya Brady, all of Union City, Gabbi Forrester of Woodland Mills and Bahgail Gill of Illinois; and two sisters, Billie Clutter of Rives and Lorene Easley of Martin.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Ballard; and one brother, James “Jim” Crowell.
