‘HOME’WORK HELPERS
‘HOME’WORK HELPERS — Lake Road Elementary School teachers (clockwise from left) Dana Craddock, Kenthia McKinnis, Destinee Mayo, Catherine Nailling and Jennifer Godwin were among several faculty members who worked at midday Monday to distribute school work which is being provided to students for completion at home during the shutdown for the coronavirus pandemic. Vehicles were lined up in front of the school as car loads of parents and children arrived to pick up meals and/or instructional materials. Staff stationed outside the building used walkie-talkies to tell teachers the names of students as they arrived to pick up school work and the teachers worked in assembly-line fashion to deliver it curbside. Meanwhile, food service personnel and support staff were set up outside the front entrance to distribute three days’ worth of breakfasts and lunches to any children who wanted the meals. The free meals are available on Mondays and Thursdays to any child younger than 18 years of age, regardless of where or if they attend school.
