Virgil Presley

Brother Virgil Presley, 81, of Trezevant, formerly of Lauderdale County, a retired Southern Baptist minister, died Feb. 11, 2019, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
His homegoing celebration at Hope-well Baptist Church in Lavinia was truly a celebration of a life well-lived in service to our Lord Jesus Christ. The service was well attended by many members from his former churches and he will truly be missed by his countless friends.
Virgil graduated from Union University in 1962.  In his 50 years in the ministry as a Southern Baptist minister, he pastored only five churches: Durhamville Baptist in Lauderdale County, Mount Olive Baptist near Union City, Enon Baptist in Lauderdale County, Second Baptist in Dyersburg and Curve Baptist in Lauderdale County. He retired from Curve Baptist after serving as pastor there for 20 years.
He served as a volunteer chaplain at Baptist Lauderdale Hospital from 1992 to 2006. He also went to the Ukraine with an evangelism team from the Southern Baptist Convention International Mission Board in the fall of 1996.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Verney and Vester Lee Presley; and three brothers, Junior Presley, Jesse Presley and Jerry Presley.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Martha Brown Presley; and a sister, Imogene Presley.
