Robert Hicks
Robert Morris Hicks, 78, of Union City passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026 at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Bro. Keith Sumner officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 1 p.m. and run until the time of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tyler McCollum, Brandon Forsythe, Bill Quinton, Phillip Puckett and Dennis Suiter.
He was born to the late Lee Hoyte Hicks and the late Anna Bess Morris Hicks. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Shirley McBride Hicks, who remained by his side throughout their life together.
Robert proudly served as a member of the National Guard and was a member of First Baptist Church in Union City.
He dedicated 34 1/2 years of his working life to Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company before retiring. During his many years at Goodyear, Robert became affectionately known to his coworkers and friends as “Big Bob,” a name that reflected not only his presence but the warmth and personality that made him so well loved by those who knew him.
Above all, Robert will be remembered for the love he had for his family. He was a loving husband and father and was affectionately known as “Pop” by his grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy, and the memories he created with them will be treasured for generations to come.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley McBride Hicks; two daughters, Paula Hicks and Lisa Eubank, both of Martin; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda Kaye Venable (Wesley) of Saline, La., and Donna Kane (Pete) of Portland, Ore.
Robert will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, devotion, hard work and family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
