UTM women lose twice on the road
UT Martin outscored Southern Indiana in the second half of Saturday’s game at Liberty Arena in Evansville, but it was ultimately not enough as the Skyhawks fell to the Screaming Eagles 52-43.
UT Martin led 9-8 after the first quarter, but Southern Indiana opened the second on a 14-0 run and eventually outscored the Skyhawks 23-9 in the frame.
UTM then outscored the Screaming Eagles in both the third and fourth quarters, but it was not enough to close the gap as USI held on for the nine-point win.
Kenley McCarn led the Skyhawks in scoring and rebounding in the game with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Brittani Wells added seven points and four rebounds, while Norah Clark chipped in with four points, five rebounds and three assists.
The Skyhawks return home to the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center on Thursday to host SIUE at 5:30 p.m.
Morehead St. 67, UTM 49
UT Martin ran up against a Morehead State team that made 12 3-pointers and went 13-for-14 at the free throw line on Thursday night.
The result? An 18-point victory for the home team as the Eagles defeated the Skyhawks at Johnson Arena.
Morehead State got off to a fast start, outscoring UT Martin 25-12 in the first quarter.
However, in the second quarter, it was the Skyhawks with the advantage, outscoring the Eagles 17-15 and ended the half on a 13-2 run.
With 7:54 left in the fourth, Norah Clark hit a 3-pointer that cut the lead to six at 52-46.
From that point on, though, Morehead State ended the game on a 15-3 run and did not allow another field goal after Clark’s basket.
Zy Thompson and Kenley McCarn both reached double-figures, Thompson scoring 16 and McCarn scoring 13.
Sidni Middleton notched a team-high six rebounds, as did Brittani Wells, to go along with five points, five assists and three steals.
