Fred Kemp Jr.

Mr. Fred Richard Kemp Jr., age 77, of Union City passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Union City.
He was born on April 29, 1948, in Hazel Park, Mich., to the late Fred Richard Kemp Sr. and Jean Marie Verbiest Kemp.
Mr. Kemp was a proud United States Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was of the Catholic faith and retired from Jackson Purchase Medical Center, where he served as Director of Plant Operations. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4862 in Union City and a past president of the Dead Armadillo Society, Union City Chapter.
He is survived by his wife, Ilona Latosz Kemp, whom he married on May 4, 1968; two daughters, Robin Kemp of Henderson, Ky., and Cheryl (Todd) Vinson of Benton, Ky.; two sons, Fred Richard (Nadia) Kemp III of Virginia Beach, Va., and Stephen (Maggie) Kemp of Union City; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Lochard of Columbus, Ohio, and Connie (Jeff) Daily of Paducah, Ky.
A memorial Mass for Mr. Kemp will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at St. Edward Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
