Bear Charlton

Bear (Carol Wayne) Charlton, 86, a resident of Obion, died Dec. 24, 2025, at his home.
Services were 3 pm, Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at White-Mahon Funeral Home. Erik Leto, David Charlton and Pastor John Carroll officiated. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Luke Charlton, Jack Charlton, Davis Pinckney, Brandon Ward, Nathan Dickson and Tim Spicer.
The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Charlton was born on Dec. 21, 1939, in Springville to the late Novell “Note” and Tennie (Smith) Charlton. He worked on the Line Crew for Gibson Electric. On Oct. 21, 1961. he married Maye Wynn. She survives.
The family requests memorials be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Mr. Charlton is also survived by a daughter, Teresa M. Charlton of Murfreesboro; son, David W. Charlton and wife, Trisha, of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren, Magan Ward and husband, Brandon, of Murfreesboro, Katelin Dickson and husband, Nathan, of Knoxville, Olivia Grace Pinckney and husband, Davis, of Alexandria, Va., and Luke Charlton and Jack Charlton, both of Charlotte, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Harper Ward, Harrison Ward and John Houston Ward, all of Murfreesboro; sister, Sue Charlton Cole of Big Sandy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by infant twin siblings, Robbie May and Bobbie Ray Charlton; two brothers, Hardy and Scoot Charlton; sister, June Charlton Wheatley; and nephew, Ronnie Charlton.
