COPS SHOP
COPS SHOP — Law enforcement officer Cory Pinion, a member of the Union City Police Department, and his wife, Molly, helped a child pick out clothing during the UCPD’s annual Shop With a Cop event Saturday morning at Walmart Supercenter in Union City. About 140 kids were treated to shopping Saturday, followed by six more on Monday. There are still 20-25 kids who will be treated to shopping in the coming days. Each child gets to pick $200 worth of new clothing and toys. Shop With a Cop raised about $40,000 this year through community donations and fundraisers. The program also helps children and families year-round as needs arise. Among the personnel on hand to help shop Saturday were those from the Union City and South Fulton police departments, Obion County Sheriff’s Office, school resource officers, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Tennessee Probation and Parole and a state jail inspector, along with a few other volunteers.
