Sondra Shupp

Mrs. Sondra Wheatley Shupp, 84, of Troy passed away peacefully at her home on Oct. 8, 2025, at 5:58 p.m.
Born in Dyer County on April 10, 1941, Sondra and her family moved to Arizona in 1951, where she built a beautiful life filled with family, faith and hard work. She lived there until the passing of her beloved husband on Aug. 7, 1992, after which she returned home to her family’s farm in Tennessee.
Sondra was preceded in death by her parents, Flora Mae Wheatley and Milton Rike “Bill” Wheatley; her sister, Paula Trahan; her brother, Bill Wheatley; and her daughter, Shanna Shupp.
She is survived by her devoted son, Robert Todd Shupp, and his wife, Yolonda, of Troy; her cherished granddaughter, Mikayla Shupp, and fiancé, Jonathan Desch, of Gilbert, Ariz.; and her grandsons, Justin Jensen of Texas and Jesse Jensen of Stafford, Va. She is also survived by two great-grandsons, Carter and Oliver Jensen, both of Stafford. Sondra is also lovingly remembered by three nephews, six great-nephews, one great-niece and one great-great-niece.
Sondra dedicated many years to her career, first as an assistant to a physician in Phoenix, Ariz., before becoming a bookkeeper for Arizona Hardchrome. She took great pride in her work and was known for her precision, reliability and quiet strength.
Sondra joyfully embraced her most treasured role — being “Grandma” to Mikayla. She poured her heart into it completely, filling those years with love, laughter and a bond that grew into something truly special.
She found joy in helping her husband with his racing hobby, creating beautiful stained-glass artwork, tending to her front-yard gardens, overseeing the family’s Sunny Brook Farms and staying active in her church. Her faith, creativity and steadfast love were at the center of everything she did.
Sondra will be remembered for her warmth, strength and the way she made those around her feel deeply loved. Her gentle spirit and the memories she created will live on forever in the hearts of her family.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
