Florence Smith
Mrs. Florence Smith, 78, a resident of Union City, died Aug. 26, 2025 at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown in Nashville.
Services were held noon Friday, Aug. 29, 2025 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Sidonia. Pastor Bradley Davis officiated.
Pallbearers were Henry Scott, Kyle Franks, Kevin VanBrocklin Jr., Mason Franks, Kevin VanBrocklin III and Hector Corona. Blake VanBrocklin served as a honorary pallbearer.
The family received friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday at White Ranson funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born on May 25, 1947, in Sidonia to the late John Lewis and Dorothy (McBride) Ramsey.
She worked as a seamstress for the former Salant & Salant. On April 25, 1966, she married Porter Smith.
She was a member of Home Street Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, Porter Smith Jr.; daughter, Cynthia (Cyndie) (Henry) Scott, both of Union City; stepdaughter, Beverly Harris of Kenton; two stepsons, William Smith of Union City and Porter Ray Smith of Chicago; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Kyle) Franks and Stephanie (Kevin) VanBrocklin; seven great-grandchildren, Preslie Sturkie, Mason Franks, Rhylie VanBrocklin, Blake VanBrocklin and Kevin, Emilee, and Shalynn VanBrocklin; two great-great grandchildren, Kenleigh VanBrocklin and Lucas Corona; sister-in-law, Jeannette Ramsey of Sharon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Albert Ramsey.
