Joe Johnson

Mr. Joe Wayne Johnson, 86, a resident of Union City, passed away Aug. 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, at White-Ranson Funeral Home. Jeff Bell and Guy Walker Gray will be officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be Frank Johnson, Tim Johnson, Darren Johnson, Jack Jernigan, Dr. Wright Jernigan and Dr. John Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Cranford, BJ Phillips, Lowell Grooms and Roy Wiley.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born on Feb. 2, 1939, in Hickman County, Ky., to the late Buford and Beatrice (Holt) Johnson. He worked in Management for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. On June 27, 1970, he married Sammie Cranford. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2006.
He was a member of Bishop Street Church of Christ and the Wingfoot Retirees Club.
Mr. Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran and an avid fisherman.
The family requests memorials be sent to Hometown Walk of Hope in memory of Sammie Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Tracy Johnson; two granddaughters, Alexis Layne Johnson and Sydney Kate Johnson, all of Rives; two sisters, Linda Byassee of Michigan and Virginia Sanders of Fulton; and a brother, Bobby Johnson of Fulton.
He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Marie Gray and Carol Cox; and five brothers, Buford Johnson Jr., Truman Johnson, Donnie Johnson, Cloyce Johnson and Willard Johnson.
