MINOR INJURIES — Lauren Nicole Culver, 29, of Union City was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City by EMS for minor injuries as the result of an accident involving her Ford XPL and a train on Friday around 4:48 p.m. According to a Union City Police Department report, Ms. Culver was traveling west on East Jackson Street when she failed to stop for the railroad crossing lights. The passenger side of her vehicle was struck by a train. The report notes all lights and the train horns were properly working and Ms. Culver indicated she was speaking with her husband via Bluetooth at the time of the incident. She was the only occupant in her vehicle and the only person injured in the accident. The train’s conductor and engineer were aboard the train. The Union City Fire Department responded to the scene. According to a UCFD report, the Union City Terminal train conductor stated they were hauling used cooking oil. No hazards were noted. Ms. Culver was issued a citation for failure to yield railroad crossing.
