DIGGING IN — Members of the Samburg board of aldermen joined together for a formal groundbreaking ceremony Monday evening to celebrate the construction of a new Samburg City Hall complex. The ceremony was conducted by (from left) contractor Chance Clanton and aldermen Ray Tolley, Ralph Alexander, Mitchell Goree, Grant Reed and Lora Lee Gooch. The ceremony was attended by more than 20 people, including Obion County Mayor Steve Carr, Obion County Sheriff Karl Jackson and Obion County Joint Economic Development Corporation chief executive officer Lindsey Theobald, as well as others from the local chamber of commerce. Construction of the new City Hall complex is expected to begin later this week and is scheduled to be completed within six months. The more than half a million dollar complex is begin built by Clanton Contractors.
