Barbara Grooms

Mrs. Barbara Ann Grooms, age 76, of South Fulton passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at her residence.
Barbara was born on Aug. 29, 1948, to the late Felix E. and Rachel Gadberry Vaughan in Graves County, Ky. She was an active member at Walnut Grove Church in South Fulton. Barbara retired in 2010 as an Emergency Room Tech at the former Parkway Regional Hospital and was a certified E.M.T. She was affectionately known as Mimi to her twin great-grandsons, Luke and Liam; they were the light of her and Lowell’s (Pappy’s) lives. Barbara also had treasures in her special friends, Sheral St. John, Sherrill Reams and Lee Ann Gossum; together, they shared so many good times as well as weathering the storms of life together.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell Grooms; one son, Chris (Lori Ortiz) Grooms of Beech Bluff; one daughter, Jennifer Pierce of South Fulton; two grandchildren, Caide (Taylor) Fraser of Murray, Ky., and Harrison Pierce of South Fulton; and two great-grandchildren, Luke Fraser and Liam Fraser of Murray, Ky.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Vaughan; one sister, Donna Meadows; and one half-sister, Troy Medley.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel. Bro. Paul Adams will officiate the services.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, beginning at 4 pm until the hour of service at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel.
