Ray Dodson
Ray Lynn Dodson, age 82, of Troy passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2025, at White-Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with Chad Foley officiating. Burial will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home and again Monday beginning at noon until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Stacey Burpo, Coleman Carpenter, Morgan Carpenter, Todd Dodson, Jason Meness and Zach Sweatt. His coffee shop buddies will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Dodson was born in Obion County on Aug. 20, 1942, to the late James E. Dodson and the late Margaret Jewell Hughey Dodson. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. after 36 years and then returned back to his farming roots, working for Dodson Farms. Mr. Dodson loved drag racing and went on to hold national records for his drag racing skills. His love of cars rolled over into owning and operating Dodson’s Garage for many years.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sherry Cook and her husband, Jim, of Troy and Sandy Austin and her husband, Mackey, of Union City; one son, Shane Dodson and his wife, Kathy, of Martin; six grandchildren, Clint (Crystal) Cook, Haley (Travis) Preuett, Sarah (Allan) Russell, Evan (Mallory) Dodson, Ellie Dodson and Jacob (Kristi) Austin; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Greg Dodson and Neil (Mary Lynn) Dodson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Dodson.
