Dean Thompson

Mr. Rodney Dean Thompson, 70, of Mayfield, Ky., passed away Monday, April 14, 2025, after an illness.
He was born July 19, 1954, to the late Esther Lee Thompson and Oscar Curry in Rives, where he grew up with his twin sister, Jean (Eugene) Carden of Union City, alongside wonderful grandparents and a great-grandmother.
His first summer job was hauling hay for Mr. Lenard Lippard in Rives. He graduated from Obion County Central High School, worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Allen Searcy Roofing and later worked in maintenance for Pilgrim Pride chicken barns, where he retired in 2023.
He was called “Bubba” by his siblings, who also include, Linda (Wardell) Milan of Knoxville, Patricia Ellen Thompson of Paducah, Ky., and Deborah Lynn (Calvin) Thompson of Cataula, Ga.; and a longtime friend, Dawn Compau of Mayfield, Ky.
He is also survived by his children, Kaye Perkins of Union City, Rodney Thompson of Martin, Jason (Christy) Thompson of Martin, Jessie Thompson of Houston, Texas, Ashley Stokes of Mayfield, Hailey Stokes of Ripley, Jalen Thompson of Louisville, Ky., Ethan Thompson of Mayfield, Alesha Dickerson of Clarksville and Reico Newberry of Clarksville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dean also had some very special nieces and nephews who grew up with a special fondness for their “Uncle Dean.”
There will be no services. A celebration of Dean’s life will be held at a later date.
