John Atwill
Mr. John R. Atwill, age 85, a former resident of this area, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Clinton Place in Clinton, Ky.
John was born in Fulton County, Ky., on March 5, 1940, to the late Joseph L. Atwill Sr. and Edna May Davis Atwill. He had been residing in Marshall County, Ky., for the past several years and was a retired Switchman for the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of the Twin Lakes Worship Center in Benton, Ky., enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling and was a member of Gideons International.
He is survived by his three daughters, Cheryl Lee (Billy) Hamlin of Fulton, DeeDee (Jimbo) Adams of Fulton and Johnna (Chris) Courtney of Senoia, Ga.; three grandchildren, Shane (Melissa) McClure of Benton, Ky., Kody Atwill of Union City and Ryan (Gabby) Atwill of Fulton; and seven great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kelly Atwill; a brother, Lewis Atwill; and a sister, Mary Alice Owens.
Funeral services are incomplete at this time and will be announced later.
Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton is in charge of arrangements.
