Charles Mitchell
Charles Edward Mitchell, age 86, died March 1, 2025, among friends and family at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, Ky.
He was a 1959 graduate of Union City High School, where he was a star football player. He was a beloved member of Trace Creek Baptist Church in Mayfield and attended every time the door was open. Charlie, as known by his close friends and family, loved to worship the Lord and share God’s love with everyone he met. Known as a Master Mason for 50 years, he taught Masonry classes at OCCHS for 11 years and led numerous Mission Trips across the country using his talent for the Lord’s work.
Mr. Charles Edward Mitchell was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Bertha Mitchell; son, Jimmy Taylor; and granddaughter; Lisa.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly (Davidson) Mitchell; daughters, Becky Mitchell, Jane Mitchell, Amy McClure (Chris) and Molly Cowan; and son, Chet Mitchell (Mark). He was a cherished grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Trace Creek Baptist Church, 3577 State Route 131, Mayfield, KY 42066 on Saturday March 8, 2025, with visitation at 2 p.m. and services at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family asks that you send donations to the Missions Ministry or The Trace Creek Bicentennial Park construction project that Charles was extremely proud to be a part.
