Betty Sue Joyner

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Betty Sue Joyner, age 85, at her home on Dec. 8, 2024. Betty was born on Feb. 21, 1939, in Glo, Ky., and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met.
Betty grew up in Crossville and later met her beloved husband, Jackie Joyner, in Florida. The couple settled in Troy in 1970, where Betty worked for many years at Troy Elementary School in the cafeteria and at Rebel Video. As an active member of Troy Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Betty shared her warm spirit and dedication to her faith with all who knew her.
A passionate gardener, Betty found joy in nurturing her rose bushes, and she had a deep love for cooking and spending quality time with her family. Her home was a place of warmth and love, where family and friends were always welcomed with open arms.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband of over 65 years, Jackie Joyner; two sons, Jackie Joyner Jr. (Jennifer) and Michael Joyner; her daughter, Melody (Dawn) Joyner; and four beloved grandchildren, Caitlyn Joyner, Madison Joyner, Cason Joyner and Hayden Joyner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tennessee and Landon Allred, as well as her dear sisters, Sandra (Sandy) West, Juanita (Jo) Wilkinson and Jewel Allred; and her brother, Jimmy Allred.
Betty Sue Joyner will be remembered for her boundless love, her compassionate heart and her infectious spirit that always lifted those around her. She brought joy, kindness and comfort to everyone she encountered and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 1-3 p.m. at White-Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, followed by a service at 3 p.m. A graveside service will take place immediately after the service in Terrace Hill Cemetery.
Jack Daughton, Paul Cunningham, Tony Easley, Brent Johnson, Alan Thompson and Sam Cunningham will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Mrs. Betty.
