Barbara Castleman
Barbara Imogene Barker Castleman of Dresden, TN, a devoted woman of God and unwavering faith, entered the arms of our Savior on November 30, 2024, at the age of 64. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and spiritual guidance that will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Barbara was born on Monday February 22, 1960, in Waterloo, IA, to Aaron and Alberta Barker. She was raised with a strong foundation of faith and values that shaped her journey, which she carried throughout her life. She married George Castleman on April 30, 1995 and together they shared 29 years of love, partnership, and family. Barbara’s final work life was with the employees of Van Ayer Nursing Home but prior to that she enjoyed working many years in the office of Dr. Tom Gallien, both in Martin, TN. Barb truly enjoyed her work, both at the nursing home and in the dental office. She was genuinely interested in each co-worker, patient and family member that she came in contact with, both in
the dental office and at the nursing home. Her greatest joys came from her family, her dedication to helping others, and her faith. Barbara
was an active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Martin, TN, where she taught Sunday school, served with the planning committee, and sang every Sunday at church Her faith was not only her anchor but also her compass, guiding her through life’s joys and challenges. She found immense joy in sharing her love for the Lord with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, whom she lovingly nurtured in faith. Her home was a sanctuary filled with prayer, spirit, and peace. She is survived by her husband George Castleman; her three loving daughters Debra Potts (Christy) of Martin, TN, Kathryn Hensley (Jason) of Cleveland, TN and DeEtt Dennis of Martin,TN; her son Corey Castleman (Johnna) of Dresden, TN; her eight grandchildren Natalie Ball, Abi Grace Randolph, Max Randolph, Bella Dennis, Cooper Potts-Webb, ZacCorey Castleman, Kitai Dennis, and Carter Potts; her five siblings Denton Friar (Pam) of Dresden, TN, David Barker (Carol) of Dresden, TN, Louis Barker (Diana) of Arkabutla, MS, Don Barker (Gale) of Dresden, TN, Bonnie Bennett (Richard); and sister in law Susan Barker of Nashville, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother Aaron and Alberta Barker; brother Marvin Barker; and granddaughter Morgan Faye McMinn. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday at 1 pm at the Dresden First Baptist Church.The family will be accepting friends Monday December 2, 2024 at 4p at Bowlin Funeral Home, and Tuesday at the church from 12 pm until service time at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobbie Doughty, Hunter Doughty, Scott Walker, Wyatt Walker, Charles Dennis, and Clayton Mitchell; and Honorary Pallbearers Max Randolph, Cooper Potts-Web, ZacCorey Castlemen, Kitai Dennis, and Carter Potts. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor her life and faith. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VanAyer Nursing Home Activities Department. Barbara’s light, laughter, and unwavering faith touched the hearts of many. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she inspired and uplifted.
