Jimmy Yates

James Charles “Jimmy” Yates, 80, of Union City passed away 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at his home.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Jimmy was born Sept. 17, 1944, in Union City, son of the late Buford William and Willie Carrol (Wilkins) Yates. He married Beverly (Heath) Yates on Oct. 24, 1964.
Jimmy had been employed as a truck driver at the former Reelfoot Packing Company for 27 years and Averitt Express for 20 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Hickman Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly Yates of Union City; one brother, Ronnie Yates of Union City; one special niece, Carla Russo of St. Louis, Mo.; a special great-niece, Johnna Webb Finch of Troy; a special great-great-niece, Molly Shadowens of Troy; a special great-great-nephew, Lucas Shadowens of South Fulton; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Randolph and Ruth Ann Russo.
