Dorothy Gwaltney
Mrs. Dorothy Gwaltney, 87, a resident of Union City, died September 20, 2024, at AHC Health Care in Union City.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024, at White-Ranson Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Carr officiated.
Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cody Caksackkar, Jimmy Hawkins, Matt Clark, Jody Gwaltney, Justin Stroud and Bobby Ray Newton.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday at White-Ranson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gwaltney was born January 22, 1937, in Elbridge, TN to the late Odie and Lillie Mai (Miller) Erwin. On Nov. 21, 1952, she married Len Morris Gwaltney.
She worked at Salant and Salant in Obion. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda (Jimmy) Hawkins of Union City, Ruth Ann (Jack) Clark of Soddy Daisy, TN, and Penny Stroud of Hornbeak; two sons, Terry (Rita) Gwaltney of Bethpage, TN, and Travis Gwaltney of Union City; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Len Morris Gwaltney; six brothers, Jerry Anderson Erwin, Milton Erwin, Vernie Erwin, James Willard Erwin, Elmer “Hub” Erwin and Clayton Erwin; four sisters, Mary Ruth Davis, Reba Truett, Emmar Watts and Donnie Keith; a grandson, Chris Barton; and two great-great-grandchildren, Casyn and Lainey Morris.
