Margie McGuire
Marjorie (Margie) McGuire, 96, of Obion died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving children.
Born March 9, 1928, in Cushing, OK, she was the daughter of the late Solon and Ida Cannon Chipman. She was a farmer’s wife and operated Cloverdale Store and Cafe for 36 years, cooking the best hamburgers anywhere. She attended Zion Methodist Church.
Graveside funeral services were 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery officiated by the Reverend Phillip Pinion.
Friends were asked to gather at the cemetery at 2:45 p.m.
Honoring their grandmother, her grandsons served as pallbearers: Grant McGuire, Shane Alexander, Brycen Rainey, Garett Rainey, Zachary Woody and Colton Woody. Honorary pallbearers were her three granddaughters, Shanna Ferguson, Jolinda Gurien and Sandy Edmiston, and her devoted sitters, Linda Higgins, Shelley Bell and Pam Contreras.
She is survived by her five children, Carolyn Parkinson (Parkie), Patricia Woody, Judy Rainey and Ricky McGuire (Donna), all of Obion, and Benny McGuire (Ann) of Hornbeak; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.M. McGuire, whom she married on Feb. 4, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2007; two grandchildren, Dusty Alexander and Daryl McGuire; granddaughter-in-law, Paula McGuire; son-in-law, Scott Rainey; great-granddaughter, Maggie Gurien; sister, Virginia Crocker; and brother, Harold (Buck) Chipman.
