Lewis Atwill
Joseph Lewis Atwill, age 101, of Fulton passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2024 at Magnolia Place of Union City.
He was born July 24, 1923, in Fulton County, Ky., to the late Joseph Lewis Atwill Sr. and Edna (Davis) Atwill. He was a member of Cayce Baptist Church in Cayce, Ky. Mr. Atwill was a soil conservation technician, a school bus driver and a farmer. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force.
Mr. Atwill was an active member of Gideons International, Order of the Eastern Star and Roberts Lodge No. 172 in Fulton. He loved being outside and working in his garden, and was a part of this community all of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Atwill; and a sister, Alice Owens.
He was survived by his son, J.L. and Melanie Atwill of Fulton; two grandchildren, Camiel and Mike Atwill Taylor of Martin and Jay Atwill of Brentwood; two great-grandchildren, Emma Taylor of Martin and Nick Taylor of Martin; a brother, John R. Atwill of Fulton; and a special friend, Edna Rose Haney.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at Rush Creek Church with burial following in Rush Creek Cemetery.
Visitation was held from noon Sunday until the hour of service.
