Judy Hampton
Judy Fisher Hampton, 72, of Woodland Mills, Tenn., passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 17, 2024, while surrounded by her family.
She was born September 2, 1951, in Memphis, Tenn., to Keith and Anita Fisher.
Judy moved to Union City in the second grade and graduated from there in 1969. She married Mike Hampton on August 7, 1971. He survives.
Judy obtained her degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin. She was employed by the Obion County School System for 30 years, teaching at the former Woodland Mills School and Lake Road School. During her career, she was a TN State Finalist for Teacher of the Year.
Judy is survived by her son, Todd (Jennifer) Hampton of Martin, Tenn., and her daughter, Angie (Tim) Partin of Woodland Mills, Tenn. She was the proud grandmother of Avery (Jackson) Seals, Lane (Caroline) Partin of Woodland Mills and Boone Hampton of Martin. She was a great-grandmother to Baylor Ann Seals of Woodland Mills. Baylor filled her last year with much love and laughter. She is also survived by her mother, Anita Fisher of Union City; brother, Bud Fisher of Union City; and sisters Susan (Butch) Pitts of Union City and Mary Beth Kennon of Paris.
In her retirement, Judy enjoyed reading and working in her flower beds. She worked hard canning and preserving many of the fruits and vegetables she grew in her garden with Mike. She was a long-time member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 12 p.m. and run until the time of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Lane Partin, Boone Hampton, Jackson Seals, Chad Gibbs, Dan Fowler, Tommy Mathis, Todd Phipps and Brad Pate. Honorary pallbearers will be her former colleagues of Woodland Mills School and Lake Road Elementary School.
