Johnny Burrell

Johnny Dwayne Burrell, 70, of Hornbeak passed away 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his home.
A celebration of life service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2024, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Phillip Pinion and Brother Johnie Dalton will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon Sunday, June 16, 2024, until the hour of services.
Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Thompson, Josh Harris, Jason Morris, Ronnie Wood, Richard Hoffman, Matt Oliver, Jackson McEwen, Ethan Montgomery, George Edwards, Jimmy Barron and Dakai Willeford.
Johnny was born Nov. 15, 1953, in Martin, son of the late John and Inez (Ragsdale) Burrell. He married Jeanette (Hutchens) Burrell May 19, 2005.
Johnny had been employed with his father at John’s Welding Shop, D & P Tool and Die and was lead of maintenance at the former Bekaert in Dyersburg. He was a 1972 graduate of Union City High School, where he played football. Johnny was led by his strong Christian faith and was a member of Mt. Ararat Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and he enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Burrell of Hornbeak; two daughters, Aby Morris and husband, Jason, of Union City and Melissa Garner of Dyersburg; two stepsons, Josh Harris of Hornbeak and Anthony Thompson and wife, Zaida, of Dyersburg; one stepdaughter, Sonia Wood and husband, Ronnie, of Union City; one sister, Tammie Edwards and husband, George, of Union City; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
