Margie Brooks

Mrs. Margie Pilcher Brooks, 69, of Martin died Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Martin with Dr. Mike Sams officiating. Burial followed in Cates Cemetery with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Logan Brooks, John Brannen, James Brannen, David Barnes, Keith Kennedy and Lee Pritchett. Margie was a graduate of Ripley High School and a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, Xi Zeta Chapter. She was a retired educator spending most of her teaching career at Martin Primary School. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Martin, where she sang in the choir. She was an avid gardener and loved cooking for her family and friends. Margie is survived by her husband, Barry Brooks of Martin; two sons, Mark (Meagan) Brooks of Dyersburg and Kyle (Sheena) Brooks of Martin; her mother, Carolyn Herron Pilcher of Ripley; one sister, Jan (Jim) Brannen of Clarksville; one brother, Jim (Atha) Pilcher of Somerville; and five grandchildren, Henley Brooks, Bennett Brooks, Bolton Brooks, Halen Brooks and Harris Brooks. She was preceded in death by her father, James Tracy Pilcher; and her sister, Sharon Barnes. Online tributes may be left at murphyfuneralhome.net.
